Roster Inventory
Wednesday, May 6, 2009
The busy clearly have a very busy offseason ahead. Barring any trades, the Pistons currently have holes to fill at every frontcourt position. Below is an inventory of which rotation slots are currently filled.
Theoretically, Amir Johnson or Kwame Brown could slide into a starting role, but that would not be ideal. If Antonio McDyess returns, he would provide a temporary solution at starting power forward. With that said, Joe Dumars should limit the amount of salary and playing time he commits to players older than 28. Unless a star big man falls into Dumars’ lap, the Pistons are probably a few years away from returning to contention. As such, Dumars needs to focus on acquiring players who can contribute in the future.

I don't mind either Amir or Kwame starting if we sign a quality big to start along side them.
We're not a contender that way, but we're better than this year that way.
I've been as supportive of Amir as anyone, but I don't think he should be starting on any team that doesn't have a LeBron/Wade superstar type dominating the offense. Regardless, Johnson wound up in Curry's doghouse, so I doubt he starts next season. As for Brown, I agree that the Pistons could get away with starting him, but only if a star like Bosh or Boozer is playing power forward.
I agree, Joe D. needs to model this team in a similar way to championship team, take chances on talented but unproven young players and get guys in here who are hungry.
No matter if we get Boozer and Gordon in here, Lebron and the Cavs will be on top for the next 5years or so anyway. It's going to be a long rebuilding process, people need to be patient.
amazing article thanks for sharing such a super article
